This suite was inspired by Chris Donlon, a wonderful teacher in Mesa Public Schools, who greets his cellists with “Celloha!” I asked if I could use his greeting as the title of a new piece, and the next day he also gave me “Violarific,” “BASS-ic-al-ly,” and “Violinstinct.” I realized then that I needed to write a suite of pieces for levels 1.5-2 featuring each instrument. When I finished the music, I asked Chris if he had one more title for the entire suite. We tossed around quite a few…then he asked his students and one suggested Orchestrocity! It stuck.
In String Riffs Celebration Performance Set 4 by Karen Koger you’ll receive the complete Orchestrocity suite in addition to “Twitchy Latte” and “‘Twas the Cat” — all are fun pieces for your string orchestra levels 1.5-3. You’ll also be able to print and copy enough parts for your school(s) with the accompanying CD loaded with digital files of the scores.
